Sweeney Ridge

This will be our last hill climb. Sweeney Ridge takes you up to a 1950s Nike Site and the San Francisco Bay Discovery Site where in 1769 Portola looked out across the Bay not realizing its importance. The initial walk is along the military service road. It is 1.7 miles to the top a 1102 foot climb; then, down the other side to a greenhouse containing beautiful orchids. The return seems steeper. Wind was blowing 20 mph with higher gusts.
