Bezano

Bezano

We left our albergue at Guemes early at 6:30. We decided not to wait for the communal breakfast from 7 to 8:30. We wanted to get the first ferry at 10 to Santander. We were told that it was about 13 k from Guemes to the port of Somo on the coast. We arrived early, although we stopped for coffee along the way The ferry took us to Santander. It cost 2.50 euros each.

George treating us to thick hot chocolate with chorros

Santander is a large city with blocks of stores and restaurants and hotels. We stopped at A Valor chocolate shop where George introduced us to thick hot chocolate with chorros. We indulged and had enough chocolate with enough caffeine to power us to our final destination, Bezano 9k from Santander.
I found a paper at the albergue at Guemes describing rooms at the pension Nimon. I contacted Monserrat, the owner, and booked us rooms. We have had good luck finding information on places to stay through the albergues. We each paid $15 euros. Stu and I in a double and George a single. This included breakfast. The pension turned out to be an apartment with a kitchen and 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. Nothing like a hot shower followed by a cat nap while reading a favorite book.
