New York Layover

Thursday - May 8th - We got to the Surfside Motel not far from JFK at midnight. We are right on an estuary. This area suffered under 4 feet of water during Hurricane Sandy. You can get an overnight rate or a five hour rate with or without a whirlpool. Why two different rates is left to ones imagination. We had breakfast in a deli across the street and then a walk In the rain. Now we have the room heater set at 85 and our wet things hanging from the curtains. Good practice for the rainy days ahead. Dry socks are the key to comfort.

Having a snack in the American Admiral Club, SFO

Drying out after morning walk in the rain

Sapienza's, "King of pastrami in Gueens"

Now off to the airport for our flight to Madrid.

Once again in an airport lounge.

Joan has found the potato chips. The green bag is for purloined treates.
Quiet and tasteful.

Now a look at the plane, A-330/300, Iberia Airlines. It even smells new.

We are surrounded by technology.
Our seats. We had to go to the help menu to figure out how to live in them.
