Guemes

We spent the night in a very clean albergue in Loredo. We had the use of a kitchen so we shopped and made supper. There was wifi so we were set. 13 euros each. We had a lovely double room and George shared a room with a German man.
We had to time our leaving in order to walk 6k and get the first ferry at 0900. It cost 2 euros. It left us off on the other side of the bay in a very beautiful town called Santona. This is a sea port with gardens and lots of shops. The camino then took a very circuitous route past the jail and over a mountain to the sea on a small steep path. The path dumps you on to a beach which you walk for a couple of kilometers until you reach Noja. Noja is also a holiday resort with shops hotels.

Once past Noja, we walked through farmland until we finally reached Guemes some 31k later. The albergue here is quite well known There are 60 beds with 10 in a room. They serve 3 meals and it is donativo. This means free or give a donation which they encouraged us to do.
